NPCs (New Souls Edition)

Rabbit
  • Underground Mechanic; sticking to the lower echelons within Babylon, Rabbit can be found in one of several hiding holes where he plies his trade repairing and creating anything technological.
  • Fearless, lighthearted, creative, and resentful.
  • Bottle Cap Collector; a big fan of soft drinks, Rabbit likes to keep a collection of bottle caps on hand in case they even become useful... like in the apocalypse or something.
  • Genius in Poverty; never given anything in his life, Rabbit struggled to squeak out an existence throughout his life. However, an acute intellect paired with creativity and the drive to make something of himself, Rabbit carved out as a niche as a "Junker".
  • Cyborg; Having been a victim of a terrorist attack as a child, the majority of Rabbit's body parts have been replaced with cybernetics. Notably, several internal organs, arms, legs, and lower jaw.
  • The Little Guy; instead of using his impressive skills to try and rise in status in Babylon, Rabbit is content to keep to the underground and often does pro-bono work to improve the quality of life in the slums.
  • Stress reliefs; tinkering with new tech, practicing with explosives, and a taste testing sodas.
  • CONNECTION; Party

  Nikolas
  • Magical Merchant; a buyer and seller of everything from magical knick knacks to ancient artifacts, Nikolas is one of the few sources of old items from the days when magic was as common as breathing. Skilled at magic himself, Nikolas buys, sells, and trades relics from the Old World. 
  • Fair, goodhearted, intelligent, and shortsighted. 
  • Ageless Planar Creature; Popular rumors suggest that Nikolas has been around since the Old Days. If asked, he claims to have provided wares to some of the most famous heroes throughout history. Old stories trace his heritage as a celestial who worked as a scientist - experimenting with the fabric of reality itself.
  • Mercantile Rival; Possessing a strong dislike for Rankle, he has a long outstanding feud with him. Unlike Rankle, he refuses to stoop to cheating clients or any underhanded business techniques; even if it results in the loss of profits and merchandise. More often than not, this stance screws him over... but once in awhile, it pays off. 
  • Flair for the Dramatic; Everything in life is worth doing well. Nikolas surrounds himself with the prestidigitation spell and uses other basic and complex magic to make himself a grand and imposing presence. Also, to make his life that much easier. What else is magic for?
  • Reemerging Resuscitation; In recent years, only those who knew where to find him could locate Nikolas. However, after having completing a final expedition in World's Largest Dungeon to speak with an old friend and put his past to rest, Nikolas decided to enter the New World and plying his trade once again.

Rankle
  • Magical Merchant; a selfish collector of wealth and power, Rankle seeks out magical items to buy, sell, and trade in his ever climbing life up the totem pole. He seems too preoccupied in his trade to realize that if he wanted to, he could easily carve out a life of luxury and retire. Some sort of hierarchy haunts and shapes him to keep moving. 
  • Shrewd, conniving, sniveling, and cowardly. 
  • Hidden Identity; Posing as a halfling who's undergone a terrible facial injury, Rankle hides his true nature and uses telepathy to communicate in a raspy voice. Some speculate that he has fiendish ties; perhaps a devil or demon that has freed himself from his home plane and made himself a resident of the mortal realm. Like Nikolas, he claims to be from the Old Days of sword and sorcery. 
  • Mercantile Rival; Possessing a strong dislike for Nikolas, he has a long outstanding feud with him. Unlike Nikolas, he will do anything to increase his own power and profitability; even if it means underhanded business techniques. This has lead to Rankle making some enemies over the years, but his own skills make him a difficult person to target. 
  • No Frills; Rankle has no need for showmanship or decadence, he walks around in little more than tattered rags. His coat appears to be an extradimesional space where he keeps his wares. Perhaps the most famous legend associated with Rankle is when he followed around the adventurers who defeated Larrak the Lich. Supposedly in their early days, they died quiet often, and Rankle possessed the means in to bring them back from the dead... at the cost of a little piece of them. 
  • Desperate Times; With the old days gone, Rankle has found it initially difficult to adjust to the modern days. He hung around the world dungeons and places of exploration, but few and far adventurers actually came. Since then, he has forced himself to live in Babylon and ply his trade in the underground there. 
  • Stress reliefs; Counting coins, Bartering, and Women

  Kolt Schmidt
  • Chief Officer of KNIGHT; through decades of service and sacrifice, Kolt has recently been named the leader of the Genesis branch known as KNIGHT; focused on martial might, warfare, public safety, and protection/bodyguard details. 
  • Honorable, brave, softhearted, and trusting.
  • Homegrown Fighter; Unlike the majority of KNIGHT candidates (who are enhanced manaborn), Kolt is a human who grew up on a farm in a rural community before pursuing his dreams by joining the military with Genesis. He has a decorated service record; considered to be one of the greatest living soldiers. Some compared his strength to the now infamous Olympians - a black operations team of super enhanced humanoids. 
  • Family Man; Kolt is a recent widower; faithful to his wife in her final years until she succumbed to mana poisoning. He had many sons, all but one of which followed his footsteps and joined KNIGHT. He is in good standing with the majority of them - a loving and caring father. 
  • Lion Heart; Armed with a POWER HAMMER, KNIGHT ARMOR, and an ENERGY SHIELD, Kolt is a defensive wrecking ball on the battlefield. Able to protect his allies while bringing the pain to his foes, he is not someone you want to get on the bad side of. 
  • Keeping the Peace; With the recent chaos developing within Genesis, Kolt is focused on restoring order. He acts as a mediator between ROGUE and MAGE who's leaders have been butting heads recently. Close to the president and his family, he attempts to offer sound advice and guidance. 
  • Stress reliefs; weight lifting, comedy shows, and family time. 
  • CONNECTION; N/A

Sofia Weber
  • Chief Officer of MAGE; utilizing personal connections and raw power, Sofia has recently acquired leadership of the Genesis branch known as MAGE; focused on arcane, divine, and all other things magic, lost and forbidden lore, and research and development.
  • Domineering, confident, conniving, and moralistic.
  • Self Help Guru; a big believer in the philosophy The Divinity of Mankind, Sofia Weber believes that Gods and Goddesses can be found within everyone and anything. She regularly speaks at sermons on the philosophy's bible 'The Divinity Within'.
  • Magic Sorority; though she does not come from a particularly famous family, the Webers possessed enough wealth to get Sofia into the finest Magical Academy where she eventually had the pleasure of leading a well known sorority. She utilizes her sorority contacts on a regular basis to make business connections and drive results. 
  • Rebirth into Revival; although not widely known, Sofia has come into possession of the research out of the Quiet Mountain facility and has continued many of the projects left behind by former colleagues. Even though her main interests is expanding the utilization of magic, she is aware that Genesis needs more direct results in the form of technology and assets. 
  • Mother of Twins; Sofia has two high school aged children; Claire and Finn Weber. Claire is athletic and plays softball while Finn is more of the outcast type and even fancies himself a Runner. If Sofia has a weakness, her kids are it.
  • Stress reliefs; experimenting with new spells, a little nose powder, and a good fuck.
  • CONNECTION; Reio


Rizu Tasake
  • White KNIGHT; a member of Genesis' KNIGHT organization, Rizu belongs to the division focusing on search/rescue and emergency medical care.
  • Compassionate, kind, uncertain, and awkward.
  • Rescue Me; while playing in public as a child, Rizu and a childhood hengeyokai friend were targeted by an anti-hengeyokai hate group. She attempted to protect her friend, but was knocked unconscious and put into a coma. Luckily, a member of Genesis Security on patrol was able to save her and take her into emergency care.
  • Teen Angst; After regaining consciousness and exiting from her coma, Rizu was left angry and violent throughout her youth. She distrusted most people, kept to herself, and lashed out anyone who tried to help her. Additionally, her father was committing spousal abuse to her mother, worsening her emotional turmoil. She helped her mother escape the relationship and the two started from scratch around the time Rizu finished high school.
  • Soul Searching; after therapy and some guidance by the soldier who saved her (who she had by chance come into contact thanks to her friend searching him out), Rizu opted to enter training to follow in her mentor's footsteps. Rizu graduated at the top of her military training and entered the KNIGHT program - quickly rising to the top and becoming a member of the well regarded WHITE KNIGHTS.
  • Running on the Side; Rizu focuses on her career within Genesis and KNIGHT, but after several years, she began to see cracks of corruption. Although she still maintains her duties, Rizu has become involved as a Runner in her off time where she can focus on doing good deeds without being bogged down by politics.
  • Stress reliefs; Music appreciation, practicing with yo-yos, and volunteer work. 
  • CONNECTION; Reio

 Elisa Vargas
  • Leader of the Vargas Cartel; The primary trafficker of devilweed in and out of the country of Montezuma, Elisa acts as the leader of the halfling cartel - cutting deals and making partnerships with the hengeyokai caravans to get her hands on Genesis Tech to fuel the three way cartel war in her homelands. 
  • Ruthless, unpredictable, reckless, and impulsive. 
  • Bright. Daring. Joyful; The only daughter in a line of halfling nobility, Elisa's family words helped define her life. Encouraged to take risks, to find the fun in everything, and to show off, Elisa seemed born to be the living personification of the cartel's house words. 
  • Primal and Divine Magic; Extremely skilled at both primal and divine magic, Elisa is considered to be a savant by many. Others claim that she has been blessed by the halfling deity 'The Merrymaker' with extremists going as far to call her a prophet, chosen, avatar, and other titles. She seems to shape-shift with the greatest of ease and often maintains characteristics of a coyote - enough to confuse some that she's hengeyokai. 
  • Petulant Child; Although sixteen years of age, by halfling racial and society standards, Elisa is still at best a teenager. This leads many within the Cartel Families to look down upon her or not take her very seriously. A deadly mistake, they would find. Many challenged her initial right to lead the cartel after the passing her father. Her challengers found themselves cut into bits and pieces, stuffed in pinatas, and sent to their family members. 
  • Rival Hunting; In most recent months, Elisa has put her attention and focus on disrupting the operations of the Gomez and Santiago cartels. She seems to be turning accepting anyone who can prove their worth to her - stealing the latest Genesis Tech while digging up artifacts of the Old World. It seems she wants to unite her country under her single banner and many are afraid that she'll break the sanctity of the capital city of Palenque to do it.
  • Stress reliefs; Torturing, Merry Making, and Trouble Making
  • CONNECTION; Selks

Mia Gomez
  • Cartel Necromancer; Through rigorous study, Mia employs necrotic magic on behalf of the Gomez Cartel. She typically acts as a lone agent, but utilizes the undead to run her operations. Though not a priest, she is revered and feared thanks for the cartel's belief in the Reaper. 
  • Optimistic, funny, caring, and impulsive. 
  • Impoverished Immigrant; Initially born in her homeland of Montezuma, her family had little prospects left when their cattle died and crops withered away. Her father believed Mia to be a curse on the family, as she had already possessed an innate talent for necromancy. Banished from her family's home, she sought out the bright lights of the city Babylon to start anew. 
  • Joining the Cartel; With little initial prospects, Mia worked as a petty thief at first until the fence that she used turned her over to the cartel. The cartel made her a better off than living on the streets - a job running some of their drug trade within the city. Timid at first, Mia began to realize that she could carve out a niche and a place of power thanks to her growing necromancy skill. 
  • Peace; Though not an easy or normal life by any means, Mia found happiness in her situation. She possessed magical skills, had a friend in her familiar, and achieved some wealth/respect. Indeed, danger lurked at every turn, but it always had for the girl since a young age. She is disgustingly optimistic, which can make her annoying to be around. 
  • Partnership with the Doctor; Looking for someone that she could trust outside of the cartel, Mia saw in the news about a disgraced gnomish doctor (Selks). Capitalizing on this opportunity, she approached him with an offer to work with the cartel. In need of money, Selks agreed and began working for the Gomez Cartel under the guidance of Mia. Her goal, beyond surviving, is unknown.
  • Stress reliefs; Playing with her familiar, toying with her undead, and watching horror movies.
  • CONNECTION; Selks

Fiona Flowers
  • Social Debutante; Though practically ageless, Fiona still acts and functions as a new aristocrat on the public scene. She searches for people and places of interest to provide her with thrills and new experiences. 
  • Fun, Flirty, Flighty, and Vain
  • Lake Nymph; Claiming to have lived in the Old Days, Fiona fondly remembers adventurers slinging sword and sorcery. In those days of youth, she stayed mostly by lakes and rivers where she lured adventurers in to romance or send off on quests. These days, she poses as an elf or half-elf as it suits her as many don't know the difference between the fey and the elves. 
  • Old Flame; Though she is flirty and has had many romances over the year, the only one that she has truly loved is a paladin with a simple name: Craig. His lineage has been lost to time, but she romanced this famous adventurer who once defeated Larrak the Lich. She has fond a few heirs of his over her lifetime, but none recently. 
  • Adapting to the New World; While she once lived in the woods, she has since adapted and stays in the bustling city of Babylon. There, she plies her old trade in a new way - hanging out at expensive parties and busy nightclubs to find a fancy of the week. When she's done, she moves on to the next. 
  • Seelie Court; Though she has not visited the Fey Wylds in a long time (as a result of a barrier making planar travel difficult), she still holds allegiance to the Seelie Court. She holds beauty above all other values. This puts her in opposition of the Unseelie Court.
  • Stress reliefs; New Thrills, Swimming, and Creating New Looks

Kate Knight
  • Emerging Scholar; The academic world of Terra Nullius has been turned on its head in recent mouths when Kate appeared - blowing massive holes into various theories and then repairing the tapestry with her own ideas. Many people think her to be a fraud or even wrong, but don't realize that she brings otherworldy knowledge. 
  • Intelligent, scrupulous, curious, and cute. 
  • Shadow Fey; With small devil like horns poking from her head, Kate is forced to pose as a tiefling in the modern world but she's actually a shadow fey from the Fey Wylds; having recently crossed over when there was a planar mishap. During this transition period, she met Nimue and became passing friends with her. 
  • Occult Researcher; In the Fey Realm, Kate Knight sought out pacts with otherworldy and supernatural entities to acquire power and knowledge. Upon arriving in Terra Nullius, she used the wealth of knowledge she had acquired to fill in massive holes in magical theories that the mortal realm seemed to be struggling with since the Old Ways had been dying for some time. She offers her services as a scholar to those who can afford her. 
  • Technology Fascination; Seeing it as a new means of magic, Kate has become obsessed with the technology of Terra Nullius. From firearms to cars to television and computers, she wants to get her hands on all of it and learn the ins and outs. As a result, she has begun taking online classes and visiting tech conferences to develop her knowledge.
  • Unseelie Court; Often associated with Fall and Winter, and in some cases looked down upon for ugliness and other reasons, the Unseelie Court is one of the two main courts within the Fey Realm. Kate owes her allegiance to them for both blood borne and skills acquired. 
  • Stress reliefs; Reading and Research, Magic Theory, and Tea
  • CONNECTION; Nimue

Maximilian X
  • Entertainment Producer; Having dipped his toes in various medias, Maximilian has found the most success as a music and record producer - taking unknown talents and rising them to stardom with some luck and elbow grease. For as many stars as he has made, there are even more unlucky souls tossed to the wayside when they didn't make it. 
  • Cunning, streetwise, self interested, and superficial. 
  • Ascended Grifter; Born on the streets, Maximilian had to scrounge, scheme, and cheat just to survive. By developing a silver tongue, Maximilian slowly accumulated enough wealth to break into the Upper Districts of Babylon. On the streets, he used to sleep under giant entertainment billboards and advertisements... and he knew that's what he wanted to be a part of. 
  • Connections, Connections, Connections; Once in the Upper Districts and breaking onto the entertainment scene, Maximilian grew popular - able to schmooze the right people and grease the right palms to where he received support and backing to pursue his interests. It is likely that he has more than a few scandals about him and more than a couple sugar mamas/daddys. 
  • Discovering Talent; Maximilian worked in the entertainment industry - having had numerous clients over his career. He never had a 'break-out' client until he discovered Aurora by chance playing on the street. Taking a chance on her, he offered to represent her. Agreeing, Aurora was given a new life as a music entertainer under Maximilian's tutelage. After trial and error, Aurora eventually settled into the gothic rock style much to Maximilian's surprise. 
  • The Master of Spin; The infamous Black Magic tour of Aurora with her band "Hex" allowed Maximilian to turn the witch into a star. With the drummer and rumored love interest of Aurora dead as a result of "suicide" (though tabloids claimed it was a ritualistic sacrifice), Maximilian spun press tours and damaged control to play up that imagery. This lead him to encouraging Aurora to participate in Dungeon Divers to get "real blood" on her hands. While some politicians and concerned citizens seek the removal of "Hex" from the limelight, Maximilian is confident that the laws will protect his client's interests. 
  • Stress reliefs; cheap cigarettes, expensive booze, and getting his ego stroked. 
  • CONNECTION; Aurora

Haidra Crowley
  • Intern and Assistant to Aurora; Starting off as the president of the Hex fan club, Haidra was eventually recruited by Maximilian to work as a assistant and public relations person for Aurora directly. It saves him some trouble. Prior to that, Haidra hasn't had a real job... but seems to be an art school graduate. 
  • Depressed, artistic, introspective, and resourceful. 
  • Disowned by Family; An unwanted child by her parents, she was named after a dishonorable ancestor of hers who practiced in dark magics. Treated poorly for sometime, Haidra opted to part ways from her family after the abuse became too much for her to handle. 
  • Bipolar Disorder; Eventually seeking help for her well being, a therapist diagnosed Haidra with a mental health condition. With the proper support in place, Haidra was able to support herself with government assistance and eventually pursued her passion of art through post-secondary education. 
  • A Mirror in Hex; As Aurora and her band Hex started, Haidra discovered them very early on in their career. She saw her own life mirrored in the lyrics Aurora shared - finding comfort in it. Soon, she became obsessed and started the first fan club for Aurora. 
  • Aurora's Protege; Though not officially deemed as such, Haidra sees herself as the apprentice of Aurora. She has started taken an interest in magic and thinks she'll be able to follow in the footsteps of Aurora one day. 
  • Stress reliefs; drawing, listening to Hex, and talking to herself. 
  • CONNECTION; Aurora

NPC
  • Battle Bot Streamer; Champion several times over in numerous tournaments, the human that goes by the tag of 'NPC' lives a rock star style life under the rock'em sock'em robot televised battles.
  • Arrogant, rude, skilled, and larger than life.
  • Danger Chaser; Once an ordinary student with a lack of ambition and driven, NPC spent most of his time chasing danger; listening to police reports and scrubbing Runner forums on the black.net to try and find dangerous events for entertainment. At one such event, he saw the Genesis OGRE deployed and put into action - an event that changed his life as he watched the man wrecking machine level a city block.
  • From Junk to Diamond; NPC became obsessed with creating his own OGRE - tracking down a chassis and parts from the wreckage of these danger events he would chase before the cleanups arrived. With a suit built, he entered Bulette's Brawl for the first time and the rest became history. He began rising through the ranks, gaining sponsors, and developing his 'NPC' persona. 
  • "Frenemies"; Despite the asshole persona he has crafted for himself, NPC is actually a quiet and reserved person behind the scenes in his spare time. Not known by many, he has taken the time to become friends with his fellow competitors outside the ring so that they can work together to craft better stories in this world of Battle Entertainment. His current 'Rival' is the up and coming Gremlin. 
  • Bigger and Bigger; With the growing interest in Battle Bots, NPC has been growing his brand and building bigger and badder robots to command on the tournament scene. Right now, he undoubtedly feels like a living God; showered with affection, possessing mass amounts of wealth, and getting better by the day. 
  • Stress reliefs; beer, robot tinkering, and yelling like an asshole. 
  • CONNECTION; Gremlin

Red King
  • Pariah; the faith of the God Machine has spread throughout Babylon like wildfire in the recent years - the leader of this A.I. worshiping cult is the freediver known as Red King.
  • Disillusioned, pious, optimistic, and vengeful.
  • Vampiric; taken his nickname from an old legend, the Red King was once the leader of a cult vampires who briefly held the world at ransom at behest of Larrak the Lich Lord. Whether the current Red King has any true connection to the old one, he seems to fancy himself a modern Vampire. 
  • Anti-Corporation; the Red King prior to joining the cult had a reputation for being an anarchist and utilizing his hacking skills on a freelance basis against corporations.
  • More Than Human; whether vampire, cyborg, or half-blooded, it is clear that by his distinct eye color (fire orange), Red King is not just an ordinary human. He is said to have otherworldly strength, speed, and stamina.
  • Nonviolent; for his reputation and that of the cult, the Red King prefers nonviolent methods to complete his goals. He claims to be a pacifist in his manifestos.
  • Stress reliefs; taking long walks, reading/writing poetry, and Black.Net forums.
  • CONNECTION; Gremlin

Rebel Irvine
  • Bartender; though she works at several bars, Rebecca is best known for being the main hostess at S1-GI-L (Sigil) where she often serves drinks and advice to Runners. 
  • Happy-go-lucky, kind, ditzy, and sensitive.
  • Card Player; Rebecca partakes in numerous card games - everything from classics like Poker to more nerdy ones like Three Dragon Ante.
  • 1st Generation Babylon Elf; although her parents were born in the elven homeland of Ramesses, Rebecca has never seen her homeland as her parents immigrated to Babylon looking for a better life. She is among one of the first generations of elves growing up in human lands post Upheaval.
  • Mixed Martial Arts; with all those bloodsports on all the time at work, Rebecca couldn't help but get enthralled - especially with the rise of the undefeated champion Nolan King putting out some of the best matches the world has ever seen. Rebecca went to a training program at a gym and is studying mixed martial arts for her own fun... and self defense.
  • Therapeutic Listening; Rebecca is a great source of information - she is close to many of the patrons who come and speak with her. She has a caring heart and seeks to help people with their issues as best as she can. 
  • Stress reliefs; talking out her problems, curling up on the couch, and a night at the gym.
  • CONNECTION; Setis
