The Forge of Fury NPCs

  • Geradil
    • An (Earth) Genasi woman - she found herself inexplicably drawn here by an external force. Once at the Forge, she encountered the orcs and was captured alive. She returned to the nearby settlement of Blasingdell.
    • Reserved, determined, and focused.
    • EDIT (2020): Currently resides in Babylon.
  • Courana
    • An (Earth) Genasi woman - she found herself inexplicably drawn here by an external force. Once at the Forge, she encountered the orcs and was captured alive. She returned to the nearby settlement of Blasingdell.
    • Loud-mouthed, timid, and scatter-brained.
    • EDIT (2020): Currently resides in Babylon.
  • Burdug the Shaman
    • An alchemist and magic-user under the service of Ulfe, she waits patiently to make a move and assume ownership of their horde.
    • Reverent prays for a one-eyed Orcish God 'Gruumsh'.
    • She escaped the party's initial assault with one of her acolytes by descending deeper into the mountain.
    • EDIT (2020): This character was interrogated, killed, and absorbed by ADAM on his search for the Dungeon Divers.
  • Old Yarrack the Tactician
    • Not an orc, but an orog, Yarrack has lived through many battles thanks to his above-average intelligence and mind for combat tactics. He allowed Ulfe to lead the horde as he himself learned at an early age that the second-in-command often lives when the chief is slain.
    • He escaped the party's initial assault with the remaining orcish forces by fleeing the mountain into the countryside.
    • EDIT (2020): This character was interrogated, killed, and absorbed by ADAM on his search for the Dungeon Divers.
  • Great Ulfe
    • A fierce ogre who leads the orcs of the Mountain Door. A bully obsessed with strength, Ulfe enjoyed his position of power to raid and attack those who came too close to the Stone Tooth.
    • He was slain by the party during their initial assault against the Mountain Door.
  • Vak
    • A dire wolf under Ulfe's control.
    • Killed by the party during the initial assault.
  • Thrag
    • A dire wolf under Ulfe's control.
    • Killed by the party during the initial assault.
  • Kaarghaz the Chief of the Troglodytes
    • Possessing ownership of an entire level of the Forge of Fury (along with his bear, lizard, grick, stirges, and various other monster minions), Kaarghaz serves the dragon that lives deep below. He wages war against the orcs on the floor above him for resources and territory.
    • The sorcerer discovered the trogoldytes slain by the Dungeon Divers and plotted an ambush against them when they took a long rest. The Dungeon Divers managed to survive the ambush, but Kaarghaz escaped by turning invisible. With little in the way of survivors in terms of minions, he sought to take his hatchlings and appeal to the dragon below for aid...
    • Killed by the party during their assault against Nightscale.
  • Ghared the Duergar Spy
    • Initially the person who made first contact with the Dungeon Divers, Ghared revealed what information she knew of the Forge of Fury in exchange for a bribe. She then sent the group down the northern passage - hoping they would be killed by the wight, the ghost, or the succubus...
    • When it was clear that the Dungeon Divers would not die so easy and after they had defeated the Liosalfar, Ghared joined her fellow duergar in the attack against the Dungeon Divers.
    • Escaped with a small group of Duergar under Idallas' charm.
    • EDIT (2020): This character was interrogated, killed, and absorbed by ADAM on his search for the Dungeon Divers.
  • Snurrevin the Duergar Spellcaster
    • A spellcaster who had been cautiously courting Idalla, he was convinced to work with the succubus to create an extraplanar portal that she assured him would allow the duergar to return to their home...
    • Upon seeing the Liosalfar attacking the party, Snurrevin attacked the group and set his familiar to inform Nimira and Ghared.
    • Killed by the party when they closed the planar disturbance.
  • Nimira the Duergar Champion
    • The oldest of the duergar trapped at the Forge of Fury, Nimira has lead her people all these years as best she could. Eventually driven by homesickness, she agreed to a plan with Snurrevin and Idalla - opening an extraplanar portal in hopes of finding a way home...
    • Notified by Snurrevin's familiar and Ghared, Nimira opted to lead the attack against the Dungeon Divers after they defeated the Liosalfar.
    • Killed by the party when they closed the planar disturbance.
  • Arundil the Dwarven Ghost
    • Once the leading mage of Khundrukar and Durgedin's trusted adviser, Arundil used his magic to escape the slaughter during the final assault of the orcs. He returned to find all his kinfolk dead. Driven insane with grief, he tried to repair some of the complex's defenses by animating warriors and various objects to kill any intruders that returned. In his madness, he even summoned a fiend (Idalla the Succubus) and perished at its hands not long after.
    • Arundil initially attacked the Dungeon Divers, but he eventually came to their aid when they agreed to help him find peace...
    • Put to rest after helping the party.
  • The Forgotten, Orcish Wight Champion
    • Once one of the leading champions within the orcish army that attacked Khundrukar, he fell in battle against Durgedin. He was risen from the dead by Arundil to serve the mage, but reclaimed his independence when Idalla killed Arundil.
    • The wight bartered with the Dungeon Divers, but always planned to betray and prey on them... when approached by Idalla, he opted to side with her to attack the Divers.
    • Killed by the party when they closed the planar disturbance.
  • Idalla the Succubus
    • Summoned by Arundil to help defend the Khundrukar with him, she became amused by his breaking sanity and opted to torture him for her own amusement before draining his life. She opted to make this place home and learned all she could from the scholar's records. Eventually, with the knowledge she learned her, she leveraged the trapped duergar down here to summon the Liosalfar to this place...
    • Feeding off the memories and information from slain Dungeon Diver scouts, Idalla posed as a scout in an attempt to get close to the party. However, the Divers were tipped off to her by the Wight, and so she wasn't able to infiltrate the group. She opted to go find the wight and partner with it to kill the Divers.
    • Scared away by Adrunil's ghost, Idalla enthralled the remaining duergar who didn't fall to the party and escaped the Forge of Fury with them.
    • EDIT (2020): This character was interrogated, killed, and absorbed by ADAM on his search for the Dungeon Divers.
  • Nightscale
    • A young adult black dragon that made its lair at the bottom of the Forge of Fury. It did not know its parents, but eventually came to believe itself a God due to the worship of the troglodytes and the tribute that the duergar paid it.
    • Killed by the party when they finished the Black Lake.
    • Setis absorbed Nightscale's DNA.

Jaunt
  • A mysterious stranger who descended upon the Forge of Fury at the command of its employer.
  • Jaunt claims to work for a powerful entity - sent to remove a portal to another world.
    • Reio hypothesized that this is a mission of 'corrections'. He associated the Upheaval or a similar event brought places like the Forge of Fury into this world when they're not supposed to be here, but on these other 'worlds' (or planes).
    • Calubris revealed he had a similar mission here - having sensed a portal containing fire here. The dragonborn's goal is to remove all extraplanar influences on the material plane.
  • Setis seems to think Jaunt is suffering from memory loss by the inconsistencies in its speech and mannerisms.
  • Gremlin has mistaken Jaunt for a fan. It begrudgingly allowed her to sign its rifle.
  • Nimue seems to have developed an initial attraction towards Jaunt - despite not knowing anything about them.
  • Aurora and Selks seemed cautious, indifferent, or otherwise uninterested initially.
  • Nimue's warlock patron utilized Jaunt's hidden power (Apex Gene) to close the planar disturbance. It cost Jaunt his life.
  • Setis absorbed Jaunt's DNA.

Liosalfar
  • The curtain of rippling colors assumes a humanoid form. Its kaleidoscope body shifts and glitters with mesmeric patterns...
    • With aims that often seem inconsequential or baffling, Liosalfar are servants of fate that have sundered mountains and toppled kingdoms with ease. Their motivation is an alien aesthetic or their own amusement. They speak as if all existence is a sea of patterns and colors to be set in pleasing shapes - barely understanding mortal concerns.
  • Seen tending and manipulating an extraplanar portal that threatened to rip apart the Forge of Fury, the Dungeon Divers attacked the Liosalfar after they saw it had no concern for the well being of the material plane...
    • Near death, the creature opted to plane shift to the Astral Plane to recover from its wounds...

Trader
  • An uplifted gutterkin transported to the material realm from the fey wild during the party's planar disturbance closure at Forge of Fury.
  • Trader, misspoken as 'traitor' in the human tongue, is an intelligent otter creature who possesses a wide collection of junk and magic items. Sometimes, he can't tell the difference between the two.
  • Trader isn't interested in material wealth, but rather the usefulness of certain things. He is typically willing to trade with others as he's good natured and enjoys helping others.
  • Sometimes he doesn't know what is ok to scavenge and what is not ok to scavenge - sometimes leading to misunderstandings like theft.
  • The party helped him recover his missing portable hole - he gifted the group numerous strange gifts in gratitude.
